Our Very Own Paul Taylor Earns Two Podium Finishes at King Orange International Model Airplane Contest

West Pasco Model Pilots Association member Paul Taylor represented the WPMPA at the King Orange International Model Airplane Contest in McAlpin, Florida, this past weekend, bringing home two third-place medals for his efforts in War Bird Stunt and Profile Stunt.

The weather made sure those medals didn’t come easily. Wild, windy conditions added an extra challenge to the competition, testing both pilots and their airplanes. As Paul put it, the weekend became “survival of the fittest—or maybe the craziest!”

Despite the wind, Paul managed to earn a spot on the podium in both events. Competing in multiple events made for a busy weekend, but there was plenty of enjoyment mixed in with the challenges.

“It was a busy weekend but tons of fun,” Paul reported.

The accompanying photos show one of Paul’s control-line airplanes, along with his third-place medals—a well-earned reminder of a successful weekend of competition.

WPMPA Community Awareness Project

Publix At Starkey Ranch hosted WPMPA so we could get the word out that we exist!

We were there from 9:00 am until 1:00pm on Sunday with a good selection of 13 aircraft. The folks that stopped by were very impressed!

We had a lot of interest! Hopfully some of those people made it to the field to see what the hobby is all about.

With the lessons learned from this event we are looking to do this again at The Starkey Ranch Publix very soon!
