West Pasco Model Pilots Association Membership Information
WPMPA is pleased to provide family membership for any family member under the age of 19 where the family sponser has a WPMPA and AMA membership.
An adult with an AMA and WPMPA membership will be able to have all family members under the age of 19 enrolled as WPMPA members at no additional costs, as long as the youth family member has an AMA membership.
To enroll youth family members please send the youths AMA number, full name and the family sponsors AMA number to Membership Director. An email will be sent to the sponsor confirming the family youth enrolment.

Subsequent Years
- $120.00
- Age 19-64 - $85
- 65 & over - $75
- Under 19 (as of July 1st) - $15
- Additional adult family members - $45 each
All new members of the West Pasco Model Pilots Association who wish to operate an RC aircraft at the club field must demonstrate their ability to prepare an aircraft for flight and operate it in a safe manner. This process is referred to as your Check Ride. A new member with previous experience may pass their check ride by demonstrating their proficiency to any club officer or instructor using their own airplane and radio. New members with no prior experience will be required to complete the WPMPA Student Pilot Syllabus with an instructor using the club’s training aircraft and radios.
- 1) Safety Check:
- a) Turn on transmitter
- b) Check that all switches and gimbals are in proper configuration (i.e. Flight Mode, Motor Cut Off, Flaps, Rates/Expo, etc.)
- c) Check the flight pack for full charge/battery
- d) Check security and integrity of servo linkages to flight controls and flight control hinges
- e) Motor and propeller/EDF are securely mounted
- 2) Pre-Flight:
- a) Plug in the flight battery and allow bind to complete
- b) Insure all flight controls move in the correct direction for the given input
- c) If gyro equipped, insure gyro moves flight controls in the correct direction
- d) Engage throttle cut, clear propeller/EDF, secure aircraft, and move throttle to insure throttle cut is working
- e) Disengage throttle cut, ensure proper rotation of propeller/EDF, and re-engage throttle cut
- 3) Take Airfield For Flight:
- a) Instructor observes pilots’ control
- b) Pilot makes call outs prior to taking off and landing
- c) Pilot to complete the following maneuvers
- i) Circle Right/ Circle Left
- ii) Low Approach
- iii) Go Around
- iv) Line up for landing/ Left to Right
- v) Line up for landing/ Right to Left
- vi) Touch and Go
- d) Full stop landing
- 4) Check Ride Complete
- 5) Club officer/instructor signs off new pilot
